New Distribution Deal w/ The Orchard & DPR | Audiobook commission (voice/sound design) | Landscapes/Seascapes

new distribution deal

I’m really happy to announce that ahead of my two forthcoming releases (currently still stalled due to Covid, of course!) I’ve had most of my back catalogue re-released on my own imprint I Dream Sound under exclusive license to Dead Planet Records, which is distributed by The Orchard. With my previous distribution deal having ended a couple of years ago, it feels really good to finally have a channel to publish my output with & have my work distributed digitally via the biggest digital aggregator in the world.

We spent the summer uploading some of my back-catalogue to the system - a gargantuan effort to say the least, it took days! I’ve actually got more back-catalogue to come out, and I hope that in the not-too-distant future I’ll be able to package it all up and send it out into the world where it belongs. But for now I am beyond delighted to say that this catalogue, which includes my BASCA-nominated Our Lady of Stars & its companion audiobook Books of Hours and Changes, my Fringe-Award music for Pawnography that ran at The Rose Theatre Southbank, my EP of compositions, Compositions I, which includes Hannah performed by Juice Vocal Ensemble, and my ‘two-weeks-to-write-and-record-some-songs’ challenge Swansongs …are all available to stream if you search under my name.

I even had a small re-design of the logo courtesy of Tim Groves @ Graphic Design London (original by Mulan Foubert Wan @ Kudoku Design)

AUDIOBOOK COMMISSION - The Ways In Which Peace Falls

I’ve voiced & sound designed the first part of a chapter of a new novel called The Ways in Which Peace Falls by Sam Rawlings. It was a real challenge and stretched me to work in ways I hadn’t done before, so I’m going to save writing about that that for another post where I can detail what I did a bit more. Off the back of that more chapters have been commissioned & I can’t wait for everyone to hear what I think is already shaping up to be a wonderful project.

performance - Landscapes / Seascapes

It was really lovely to sing out and play again, in my first ‘themed’ gig since lockdown, this time with pianist Andrew Sleightholme. We came up with this as a theme for the gig as Andrew was about to exhibit on a similar theme and we thought just how many songs there were about it. See his website here for some of the exhibition’s images. The photo we used below is also by Andrew.

Sadly, we didn’t get time to crack the Vaughn Williams out, or the fado, or any originals out as there was a birthday in the room that day and VW etc. got replaced by Happy Birthday & requests (which we gladly received!). Something about how this era we’re in is going tells me that at least for the next few months, I’m going to enjoy continuing to perform locally for the time being.
