Our Lady of Stars is a multimedia work comprising of an album, audiobook, and a book of poetry and scores appropriating exploring music and language’s shared written and aural syntaxes. It was independently released on Sorana’s own imprint I Dream Sound in conjunction with Nova/Universal and Lazy Gramophone Press, toured with funding from Arts Council England, and was nominated for a British Composer Award. This album features Joe Wright (saxophone/electronics), Alex Bonney (trumpet/cornet), James Maddren (drums), & The Ligeti Quartet.

Books of Hours and Changes is the audiobook component of BASCA British Composer Award-nominated multimedia work Our Lady of Stars/Books of Hours and Changes, comprising of an album, and a book of poetry and scores. In this avant-garde postmodern piece, a young woman corresponds with a silent counterpart via poetry and letter-writing. Structured using contemporary music techniques, this work draws symbolic parallels between love and religious veneration, and questions the interplay between fate and free will.

Swansongs is the result of a friend’s challenge to write and record an EP of songs in two weeks with only one mic. At the time Sorana was a case study for a trainee analyst and was undertaking dream analysis; each song describes a recently-analysed dream, and the cover too replicates a dream-state. Musically, this became the beginnings of Our Lady of Stars' sound-palette, and drew heavily from the Blues and Soul-influenced topline writing Sorana had been asked to write for other people in the years preceding this challenge.

The play Pawnography, was written and directed by then Writer-in-Residence Tracy Keeling for The Rose Theatre, Southbank during the summer of 2010, and was later awarded the Fringe Award for Best Play. Keeling’s brief was to create music that could be sung by the actors on stage, function as incidental music, and work as a stand-alone collection of pieces. This EP takes the ‘detuned’ nature of the script, using out-of-tune keyboard instruments: piano, prepared piano, and harmonium - which, in turn, affect the vocal delivery - as a conceptual parallel of the script’s effect on the story.
